On Thursday, October 8, 2026, the President of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Mahmoud Sadiq, welcomed new students from the Malaysian state of Kelantan. The meeting was part of an orientation program organized by the Center for Development of Education for Foreign Students in collaboration with various sectors of Al-Azhar. The program aims to introduce the students to the university's facilities and academic programs.

The orientation program was attended by Dr. Ramadan Al-Sawi, Vice President of Al-Azhar University for the Eastern Region, and Mr. Marwan bin Muhammad Yusuf, Educational Consultant for the state of Kelantan, Malaysia. Also present were Mr. Nuwi Saleh, assistant to the educational consultant, and Dr. Hossam Shaker, a professor of media at Al-Azhar University.

The new students had the opportunity to tour the university's campus, accompanied by Dr. Hossam Shaker and Dr. Mohamed Abdel Fattah, a member of the Center for Development of Education for Foreign Students. They took souvenir photos in front of various faculties, including the faculties of medicine, languages and translation, commerce, and Islamic and Arabic studies for foreign students.

The students also met with some of the deans and vice-deans of the faculties, including Dr. Gamal Al-Hawari, Dean of the Faculty of Education, and Dr. Rida Abdel Wajid, Dean of the Faculty of Media. They attended some academic lectures, including a lecture on Quranic sciences by Dr. Sami Hilal, former Dean of the Faculty of Quranic Studies.

The orientation program aims to provide the new students with a comprehensive understanding of Al-Azhar University's academic programs and facilities. It also seeks to help them integrate into university life and make the most of their educational experience. The program is supervised by Dr. Nahla Al-Saeidi, advisor to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for foreign students and head of the Center for Development of Education for Foreign Students.
