Aviludo, a leading company in the food sector, has inaugurated its new logistics centre in Maia, Portugal, with a total investment of 27 million euros. The new centre, built by Garcia & Garcia, took 13 months to complete and features an area of 11,000 square meters. The facility includes 1,400 square meters of temperature-controlled antecambers and 900 square meters of specific areas for frozen products. The centre also boasts 17 loading docks, with six for trucks and 11 for vans.
The new logistics centre is strategically located near major road axes, allowing Aviludo to improve its response time, efficiency, and competitiveness in the region. According to Kai Schneider, CEO of Aviludo, the Maia location enables the company to cover around 90% of the districts in the north of Portugal, including Porto, Viana do Castelo, Braga, Aveiro, Coimbra, Viseu, Vila Real, and Bragança. The centre's capacity for 9,000 pallets in differentiated temperature is expected to significantly enhance Aviludo's operations in the region.
Sustainability and technology are key pillars of the project, with a focus on reducing environmental impact. The centre will feature a photovoltaic unit with 891 kWp of installed power, capable of meeting around 39% of the platform's energy consumption. The facility will also be equipped with LED lighting and 12 simultaneous electric charging points to support the company's fleet. Additionally, the refrigeration system uses CO₂ and is complemented by state-of-the-art isothermal panels.
