The Presidential Campaign Council of the African Democratic Congress has announced plans to unveil additional layers of its campaign structure and more appointments as preparations for the 2027 general elections gain momentum. This development follows the release of an initial list of appointees, which the council described as only a starting phase in organising the campaign.
The Director of Strategic Communication of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council, Phrank Shaibu, has appealed for patience among supporters whose names were not included in the initial appointments. According to Shaibu, former Vice President and ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, remains conscious of the sacrifices and contributions of individuals who have supported him over the years.
Shaibu assured supporters that Atiku values their loyalty and sacrifices, and those who might feel disappointed by their omission from the initial list will not be forgotten. He emphasised that the campaign is still evolving, with consultations ongoing, and further responsibilities will be assigned as the structure expands across the country.
The campaign will continue to draw on party members, experienced political leaders, professionals, young people, and other Nigerians willing to contribute to its activities. Shaibu disclosed that the campaign will soon announce its zonal and state structures, additional senior appointments, and other organisational layers extending to wards and polling units nationwide.
The campaign is strengthening its policy architecture, focusing on critical areas such as the cost of living, food security and agriculture, security, energy and power, employment and industrialisation, and education. Shaibu listed other areas of focus, including healthcare, infrastructure, housing, public finance, governance, technology and innovation, social protection, natural resources, the environment, and human capital development.
According to Shaibu, the various challenges confronting the country require coordinated policy responses rather than isolated interventions. The campaign's objective is to ensure that every major national problem is matched with a serious, practical, and implementable policy response capable of improving the everyday lives of Nigerians.
The ADC presidential campaign is described as a "people-driven national campaign" that will continue to expand by drawing support from Nigerians who share its stated objective of improving living conditions and creating greater opportunities. Shaibu said there is room for every sincere hand willing to serve, and further announcements on the campaign's organisational and policy structures will be made in the coming days.
