Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate, remains conscious of the sacrifices made by his supporters over the years. Shaibu stated that Atiku wants to assure supporters that their years of commitment and sacrifice have not been forgotten. The campaign will draw on party members, experienced leaders, professionals, young people, and other Nigerians willing to contribute to its activities.
The campaign council announced plans to unveil zonal and state structures, additional senior appointments, and other layers of organisation extending to wards and polling units across the country. This move aims to strengthen the campaign's presence and engagement with Nigerians at the grassroots level. The council described the exercise as a "people-driven national campaign".
The campaign's policy architecture is being strengthened to develop responses to pressing national issues, including the cost of living, food security, agriculture, security, energy, and power. The council aims to ensure that every major national problem is matched with a serious, practical, and implementable policy response capable of improving the everyday lives of Nigerians.
The development comes two days after Atiku unveiled his Presidential Campaign Council, with notable figures appointed to various positions. Former Governor of Rivers State, Rotimi Amaechi, was named as Atiku's running mate, while Dele Momodu and Dino Melaye were appointed as Deputy Director-General of the Media and Communications Directorate and Deputy Director-General of the Contact and Mobilisation Directorate, respectively.
Meanwhile, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Kingsley Moghalu, rejected his appointment as a member of the council's Policy Team, citing a lack of consultation or consent before his name was published. The campaign council, however, remains committed to involving Nigerians willing to contribute to its activities, with room for every sincere hand willing to serve.
