Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has officially launched his campaign in Sokoto, promising to address some of Nigeria's most pressing issues. Speaking to a large crowd of party supporters at Ilorin Road, Atiku vowed to restore fuel subsidy, reopen the nation's borders for legitimate business, and bring an end to insecurity if elected president. He expressed his commitment to fulfilling these promises, urging the people to turn out in large numbers to vote for the ADC.

Atiku criticized the current APC-led government, stating that it has implemented anti-people policies that have negatively impacted the country. He described the current state of Nigeria as its worst, emphasizing that the government's actions have been detrimental to its citizens. The former Vice President highlighted the significance of Sokoto in Nigerian politics, citing its strategic position as the seat of the Caliphate in Nigeria and West Africa.

The ADC presidential candidate expressed gratitude to the people of Sokoto for their resilience in the face of attempts by the ruling party to hinder the campaign rally. Atiku praised the party members in Sokoto for their determination, which allowed the event to take place despite challenges. He also acknowledged the importance of protecting votes on election day, urging supporters to be vigilant.

Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, the vice presidential candidate, also addressed the gathering, criticizing the government of President Bola Tinubu for impoverishing the country. Amaechi alleged that corruption under the present government is widespread, stating that the government borrows money and simultaneously loots it. His remarks were in line with Atiku's criticism of the current administration.

Senator David Mark, the National Chairman of the ADC, urged the people of Sokoto to vote for the party from top to bottom. He expressed confidence in the combination of Atiku and Amaechi, stating that they have the capacity to solve Nigeria's problems. Mark's remarks were followed by those of Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the leader of the party in Sokoto.

Tambuwal criticized the ruling party in Sokoto for denying the ADC venue and hotel accommodation, describing their actions as attempts to frustrate the rally. He commended the resilience of party members, who made the event possible despite these challenges. Tambuwal implored the people of Sokoto to vote out Governor Ahmed Aliyu, citing what he described as crude methods of politics.

The campaign rally was marked by a massive turnout, with Atiku and his entourage taking three hours to travel seven kilometres from the airport to the venue due to the large crowd that lined the route. The event demonstrated the enthusiasm of Sokoto residents for the ADC and its presidential candidate.
