The Chief of Staff acknowledged the Volta Region's special place in the government's heart, citing the region's contributions to Ghana's development, including outstanding teachers, farmers, entrepreneurs, and patriots.
The guest of honour touched on the festival's theme, noting that it was fitting, as the production of yam required hard work, soil, and patience, similar to the efforts needed for national development. Dr Debrah also highlighted the ongoing Big Push projects, which aim to improve livelihoods, including farming, and provide better infrastructure, such as roads, to serve as routes to farms, schools, hospitals, and markets.
In his festival address, Togbe Afede XIV renewed his call on Ghanaians to maintain a strong sense of patriotism and fight corruption without compromise for the nation's progress. He emphasized the importance of chiefs spearheading the campaign for honesty and dignity in the country and being at the centre of development. The Agbogbomefia urged the youth to embrace entrepreneurship and become job creators, not just job seekers.
The Awafiaga of Asogli, Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu XII, noted that the prevailing peace and harmony within Asogli were essential assets for rapid development. He advised the people of Asogli not to allow divisive tendencies to set them apart. The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, highlighted the strong bond of cordiality between the chiefs of the region and the Volta Regional Coordinating Council as an excellent recipe for development.
The durbar was attended by a large crowd, including ministers of state, visitors from various parts of the world, chiefs from other parts of the country, and members of the Diplomatic Corps.
