The Ark and Rainbow Development Foundation (ARDEF) has launched a digital advocacy campaign, The Loud Vote Project, to mobilize citizens, particularly young women, for Nigeria's 2027 general elections. This initiative aims to promote free, fair, and secure elections while strengthening electoral integrity, citizen participation, and public accountability. By encouraging active participation, ARDEF seeks to shape Nigeria's democratic future.
The campaign leverages ARDEF's network of young women leaders trained under its SHAPPE and SHAPE fellowship programs in 2025. These leaders will build a citizen-driven movement focused on electoral participation, accountability, and election security. Twenty trained ambassadors, known as "The Loud 20," will spearhead digital advocacy and public engagement across social media platforms.
A key component of the initiative is The Loud Conversation, a two-hour live discussion on X scheduled for October 1. This online conversation will feature five panelists with expertise in governance, democracy, civic participation, security, and development. The discussion will address electoral participation, election security, vote buying, civic responsibility, institutional accountability, and the role of young people and women in strengthening democratic participation.
The Loud Vote Project combines a structured fellowship program with interactive public engagements to improve citizens' understanding of electoral issues. Members of The Loud 20 will receive training in digital advocacy. The campaign will deploy hashtags such as #TheLoudVote, #SecureOurVote, and #NaijaWatching to broaden the digital conversation and encourage citizen participation.
Project Manager Faith Kaminus emphasized that the initiative is founded on the principle that citizens have a critical role to play in shaping the electoral environment. ARDEF encourages Nigerians to "sign, share, speak up, and stay engaged" while urging public institutions to demonstrate greater accountability in safeguarding electoral security and integrity.
The campaign will also activate a public petition, giving citizens an avenue to express concerns and lend their voices to calls for free, fair, and secure elections. Citizens, civil society organizations, media organizations, young people, and other stakeholders are invited to join the campaign and contribute to greater public awareness of the importance of credible elections.
