Arbour Café, a popular French-inspired café in Illovo, South Africa, has launched a new take-home menu. The menu, developed by Robyn Timson, the previous owner of the café, offers a range of dishes that can be pre-ordered and collected. The menu focuses on seasonal ingredients and caters to various tastes, religious affiliations, and numbers. The café, known for its dog-friendly atmosphere and free Wi-Fi, aims to provide customers with a unique and quaint dining experience.

The new take-home menu at Arbour Café features mainly main courses made fresh, not pre-packaged and frozen. The menu includes function menus, canapé menus, and banquet-style menus, all designed to provide customers with a bespoke catering experience. According to Timson, the recipes are planned using only fresh, seasonal ingredients, with no additives, processed sauces, or preservatives. This approach ensures that customers receive "honest food" that is both healthy and delicious.

Timson's love for slow-cooked meals and French-inspired cuisine is evident in the new menu. Her favorite dishes are wholesome, comfort meals full of warmth and fantastic ingredients, drawing inspiration from stews, curries, coq au vin, and casseroles. The "therapy of slow cooking" is what she loves, and she aims to provide customers with a convenient way to enjoy these dishes without having to spend time cooking them.

Before opening Arbour Café, Timson studied film and media at the University of Cape Town and completed her diploma at Prue Leith Chef's Academy. She went on to work in the UK and spent time in Paris, where she discovered her love for crepes. Crepes are a traditional street food in Paris, and it was here that Timson found her passion for this type of cuisine and decided to open her own little creperie.

Since selling Arbour Café, Timson has admitted to missing her little passion project greatly. However, she continues to be involved with the Arbour family and shares her ethical, balanced, and good old home-style cooking with them. The venue is available for functions and pop-ups, and customers can make bookings by calling 011 788 4111 or emailing [email protected]

As a food stylist and consultant, Timson works with restaurants, magazines, and newspapers, and does a lot of advertising and film production work. Her experience in the food industry has equipped her with the skills to develop menus that cater to various tastes and dietary requirements.

The take-home menu at Arbour Café is a reflection of Timson's commitment to providing customers with healthy and delicious food. With its focus on seasonal ingredients and bespoke catering, the menu is set to become a favorite among health-conscious foodies in South Africa. Customers can look forward to enjoying a range of French-inspired dishes in the comfort of their own homes.
