The University of Manouba has announced that applications are now open for a documentary film workshop, part of its 13th International Scientific Meeting, scheduled to take place from December 3 to 5, 2026. The workshop, organized in partnership with the Tunisian Association for the Promotion of Cinematographic Criticism (ATPCC), focuses on the theme "Certainty/Uncertainty: Filming What Happens."
The workshop is open to students from public universities in Tunisia, at all academic levels, including bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. students, as well as those with film project proposals. Team members with technical expertise in areas such as image, sound, editing, and graphics must have a background in audiovisual studies. The organizers encourage collaboration between students from diverse university institutions.
Interested participants can apply by filling out a digital application form available online, which must be submitted by October 6, 2026. The application package should include a registration form, team members' CVs, a motivational letter, and a project proposal outlining the documentary's theme, methodology, and objectives, not exceeding 1,000 words.
A selection committee will evaluate the applications based on criteria such as the originality and relevance of the topic, feasibility, and quality of the proposal. On October 7, 2026, seven projects will be selected to participate in the first phase of training, with three team members per project.
The training program consists of three sessions between October 10 and November 8, 2026. After the initial session, a selection will be made to choose three projects that will receive intensive technical support to complete their films. These films will be presented at the official competition of the meeting on December 4 and 5, 2026, competing for the meeting's documentary research award.
The selected films will be screened on university platforms and the website of the Tunisian Association for the Promotion of Cinematographic Criticism, as well as in film festivals, including "Short Tunisian Films." It is worth noting that the organizers do not cover travel and accommodation expenses for workshop participants.
This initiative aims to support and promote documentary filmmaking among university students in Tunisia, providing them with valuable training and exposure. The event is expected to foster creativity and innovation in the field of documentary filmmaking.
