Apostle Dr. Faraday Sule Azekhumen, Special Adviser on Religious matters and Chaplain Government House Chapel, has called on religious leaders to preach the gospel of truth to their congregation. He made this appeal during the independent day prayer and praise programme, themed “Total Peace In Edo State And Nigeria”, held at the government house Chapel in Benin City. The programme was organized to mark Nigeria's 66th Independence anniversary.

According to Apostle Faradey, kidnappers, armed robbers, bandits, and other criminal elements often attend churches, mosques, and traditional gatherings, listening to sermons and messages. He urged religious leaders to seize this opportunity to preach the truth, which has the power to touch these souls and turn them away from wicked ways. By doing so, they can help transform lives and promote peace.

Apostle Faradey commended Governor Monday Okpebholo for maintaining peace in Edo State under his watch. He encouraged citizens to continue collaborating with and supporting the administration for a better life. The clergyman emphasized the importance of speaking the truth, stating that it has the power to transform lives. He also stressed that Christians should stand by the truth and preach it consistently.

The programme also featured other speakers, including Rev. Fr. Daniel Osayomore Iyangbe, who called on Nigerians to endure and hope for a better life amidst current challenges. He emphasized the need for synergy between citizens and the government to fight against criminality. Pastor Emmanuel Ibiwoye, another speaker, expressed gratitude that Nigeria is still enjoying peace despite facing challenges.

Pastor Ibiwoye read from Isaiah 9:6 and John 14:27, stating that God Almighty will ensure peace upon Nigeria as the nation moves towards the general election in 2027. He emphasized the church's role in praying for the state and the nation to continue enjoying peace and unity. According to him, Edo State is enjoying peace due to God's good plan for the state through Governor Okpebholo.

The independent day prayer and praise programme was a celebration of Nigeria's 66th Independence anniversary. The event brought together people from different walks of life to pray for the peace of Nigeria and the forthcoming general election. The speakers at the programme emphasized the need for collective efforts to promote peace and unity in the country.

The speakers at the programme also highlighted the importance of good governance, which they described as a product of synergy between citizens and the authority. They encouraged Nigerians to work harder and cooperate with the government and security agencies to fight against criminality in society.
