The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) presidential campaign organization has called on President Bola Tinubu to abandon his re-election bid for the 2027 general election, making way for a younger generation. According to the APM's Director of Strategic Communication, Richard Ihediwa, Tinubu lacks the required stamina to lead Nigeria effectively. This statement comes after Tinubu's recent foreign trips, including a visit to Mecca for prayers just weeks after returning from a vacation in France.

The APM's statement expressed concern that Tinubu's age and health may hinder his ability to withstand the rigors of campaigning and governance. The party noted that the presidency is a demanding office that requires a lot of stamina, and that Tinubu should allow a younger generation to take over. The APM's presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, is cited as a suitable alternative, possessing the experience, preparedness, and energy required to work round the clock and deliver on promises.

The APM campaign organization highlighted Makinde's enthusiastic reception across various geopolitical zones in Nigeria, including the North-West, North-Central, North-East, South-South, South-West, and South-East. The party urged Nigerians to sustain the momentum, obtain their Permanent Voter Cards, and vote out President Tinubu if he fails to heed their counsel and withdraw from the 2027 presidential race.

Furthermore, the APM dismissed the recent Federal Government announcement of a monthly N50,000 payment to vulnerable households, under the National Emergency Relief and Stabilisation Intervention, as a failed attempt to procure Nigerians. The party stated that such panic-driven financial measures cannot save President Tinubu and the APC from defeat.

The APM cited examples of the APC's failed attempts to induce voters, including the Osun State governorship election and the APC campaign flag-off in Kaduna, where over N2tn was reportedly spent to mobilize Nigerians. The party believes that despite these efforts, Nigerians are resolute in their determination to vote out President Tinubu in January 2027.

The APM's call for Tinubu to step down is based on the party's assertion that he is no longer strong enough to lead the country effectively. The party emphasized that Nigeria needs a president who can travel extensively, spend quality time with citizens, and remain actively engaged in governance.

In conclusion, the APM urged President Tinubu to take the back seat and allow younger hands to take over for the next four years to reset Nigeria with an all-inclusive government of national unity. The party is confident that its presidential candidate, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has what it takes to lead Nigeria forward.
