A youth group within the All Progressives Congress (APC), the Renewed Hope for Youth Development and Empowerment Initiative (RHYDEI), has set a target of 20 million votes for President Bola Tinubu's re-election in 2027. The group was launched at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja. RHYDEI has the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, as its National Chairman. The launch was attended by various APC leaders and stakeholders.
RHYDEI President, Abayomi Odediran, stated that the group would work across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria to mobilise support for Tinubu. He expressed confidence in the group's ability to secure Tinubu's second term in office. Odediran praised Tinubu for removing the fuel subsidy, citing its positive impact on the country's economy. He criticised individuals who hired an American law firm to campaign against Tinubu during the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
The RHYDEI president announced plans to train 10,000 youth ambassadors nationwide. These ambassadors will promote and defend the achievements of the Tinubu administration in communities, markets, and on social media. Odediran also revealed that RHYDEI would collaborate with Federal Government agencies to provide skills training, grants, and loans to at least one million young Nigerians before the 2027 elections.
RHYDEI has appointed various zonal chairmen, including Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani, as North West Chairman, and Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, as South West Chairman. Other leaders include Dr Raymond Asemakaha as North Central Chairman, Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, as South South Chairman, and Kingsley Ezekwelu, a member of the House of Representatives, as South East Chairman.
Despite the absence of Abbas and the five zonal chairmen at the launch, Odediran attributed their absence to other official assignments. He assured that the group would take the message of the administration's Renewed Hope agenda to wards across the country. RHYDEI aims to show Nigerians that President Tinubu is loved and appreciated at home.
The launch concluded with the inauguration of coordinators for the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory. Odediran described the event as a "love movement" aimed at promoting Tinubu's achievements and defending his reputation both online and offline. The group seeks to inform Nigerians about the positive impact of Tinubu's policies.
RHYDEI's efforts are expected to contribute to the success of the APC in the 2027 general elections. The group's initiatives, including skills training and youth empowerment programs, align with the administration's Renewed Hope agenda. With its nationwide reach and strategic partnerships, RHYDEI is poised to play a significant role in mobilising support for Tinubu's re-election bid.
