The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the local government council elections held in Yobe State, winning all 17 chairmanship seats and 176 out of 178 councillorship seats. The Chairman of the Yobe State Independent Electoral Commission (YOSIEC), Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Yabani, announced the results on Sunday in Damaturu, the state capital. The elections were conducted across 178 wards and 17 Local Government Areas, with 10 political parties participating.
According to Yabani, the APC cleared the chairmanship seats, while the Action Peoples Party (APP) won a councillorship seat in Fune LGA and the Action Democratic Party (ADP) won a councillorship seat in Karasuwa LGA. The breakdown of the results showed that out of the 178 councillorship seats, the APC won 176 seats, while APP and ADP won one seat each. Yabani declared that councillorship results were declared at ward collation centres, while chairmanship results were declared at LGA collation centres before the final collation at the state headquarters.
The electoral process started on April 23, 2025, under Yabani's predecessor, the late Dr. Mamman Mohammed. Yabani observed a minute silence in honour of his predecessor. The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Yobe State chapter, has accepted the outcome of the elections, describing them as free, fair, credible, and successful. IPAC Chairman, Comrade Umar Adamu Jajere, said the peaceful conduct of the election marked a pivotal moment in the political history of the state.

Jajere urged winners from APC, APP, and ADP to be magnanimous in victory and to see their mandate as a sacred trust to serve at the grassroots. He encouraged those who lost to remain resilient.
