The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Cross River State has confirmed that it is set to stage a massive presidential rally at the Calabar Stadium on Monday. According to the state chapter chairman of the party, Hon Chris Etta, preparations are in top gear to deliver one of the best political rallies in the state. All APC candidates are expected to be on ground to mobilize support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

Addressing concerns over President Tinubu’s current trip to Mecca for Umrah in Saudi Arabia, Hon Chris Etta stated that the rally must go on whether the President is physically present or not. He emphasized that the President’s trip does not affect the party’s programme, noting that the APC as a party remains on the ballot and its activities must continue.

The party chairman called on Cross Riverians to come out en masse and declare that the state has no alternative to Tinubu. He urged opposition parties to bury their differences for the sake of the state, stating that the President has been responsive to Cross River’s challenges. Tinubu’s administration has implemented several projects in the state, including the Calabar axis of the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway and the Bakassi Deep Seaport.

The Bakassi Deep Seaport project has been guaranteed funding, with a groundbreaking ceremony slated for a later date. Additionally, the state has benefited from the siting of the Gulf of Guinea Commission secretariat, the Extended Continental Shelf Commission, and the Bakassi Development Commission. These projects are part of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to drive economic growth and development in the state.

According to Hon Chris Etta, the deep seaport and evacuation corridor will create massive economic activities and permanent food on the table for Cross Riverians. He urged citizens to endure current hardship as reforms yield results, citing improvements in the economy, including a recovery in the value of the Naira and a decrease in inflation.

Despite initial economic pains, with the Naira dropping to N1,900 and inflation hitting 45%, the Naira has recovered to about N1,320 and inflation has decreased to 15.8%. Food prices, including the cost of cooking Jollof rice, are also reducing. The APC chieftain insisted that social interventions, including gas-powered vehicles, solar buses, and NNPC price management, are cushioning the effects of the economic challenges.

The APC in Cross River State is optimistic that the presidential rally will be a success, with all logistics in place. The party has called on residents to turn out massively on Monday to show solidarity with President Tinubu. The rally is expected to be one of the best in the state, with all APC candidates and supporters expected to be in attendance.
