The All Progressives Congress has criticized Rotimi Amaechi, the African Democratic Congress vice-presidential candidate, over his claims of being unable to afford medication for his late mother. The APC described Amaechi as dependent on public office, stating that he had been a beneficiary of public funds for decades but became "destitute" just three years after leaving office. The party accused Amaechi of seeking the VP ticket in 2027 to continue relying on the public treasury.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency intercepted container consignments of Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, and codeine-based syrup worth over N5 billion at the Apapa, Tin Can Island, and Onne seaports. The agency made the arrest following months of intelligence and tracking the movement of the shipments from their original ports of origin. A search of one of the containers yielded 161 parcels of Thai Loud weighing 124kg, worth N372 million, concealed in two refrigerators and two cartons.

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is set to lead a major mobilisation of women stakeholders in Abuja as the APC begins to intensify its grassroots campaign ahead of the 2027 presidential election. The event is themed "Renewed Hope Agenda 2.0: From Reforms to Prosperity," with the mobilisation message, "One Voice, One Movement, One Choice, One Mandate 2027."

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has warned Nigerians against spreading misinformation and propaganda that could worsen insecurity and trigger attacks on innocent citizens. The Commandant of the NSCDC Federal Capital Territory Command, Dr Olusola Odumosu, gave the warning during a nationwide roadshow organised by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations in Abuja ahead of the 2026 World Public Relations Forum.

The NSCDC's warning comes as insecurity continues to plague the country, with various groups and individuals spreading misinformation and fake news on social media. The corps urged Nigerians to be cautious and verify information before sharing it to avoid creating panic and encouraging criminal activities. This warning is part of the NSCDC's efforts to promote public safety and prevent the spread of insecurity.

The APC's criticism of Amaechi is part of the ongoing feud between the two parties. The APC accused Amaechi of being untrustworthy and attempting to use his position for personal gain. The party also stated that the presidency is not a "soup kitchen" for individuals like Amaechi.
