A group of prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftains, under the platform of APC Solidarity Group, has petitioned the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, accusing the former Benue State Chairman, Austin Agada, of anti-party activities. The petition, signed by the group's National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Sa'idu Muhammad, alleges that Agada endorsed Senator Abba Moro of the PDP and others, contrary to the party's interests. The group demands that the NWC takes disciplinary action against Agada.
According to the petition, Agada, as leader of a prominent faction of the APC loyal to Senator George Akume, made a public move by cross-party endorsing PDP's Senator Abba Moro for the 2027 senatorial seat. He also printed banners of APC Presidential candidate, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Senator Abba Moro of the PDP. The group argues that Agada's actions undermine the party's officially recognized structure and its candidates in Benue State.
The APC group also accused Agada of involvement in the Rainbow Coalition, contrary to the party's interests. The group stated that Agada's position is contrary to the position of the Governors elected in the platform of the APC, which was communicated through the Progressives Governor's Forum and endorsed by the 36 State chapters of the party and the FCT. The interview, as confirmed from the recordings, raises serious questions about party loyalty and compliance with the obligations expected of a senior member of the APC.
The petition stated that Agada granted an interview on TVC PoliticsTonight, where he clearly stated that he has no reason to campaign for the APC gubernatorial candidate in Benue and would not campaign for the re-election of the APC candidate for Governor of Benue State, Reverend Father Hyacinth Alia, in the 2027 governorship election. The group believes that Agada's actions amount to conduct that undermines the APC, its candidates, its structures, or its electoral interests in Benue State.
The APC Solidarity Group urged the National Working Committee to interrogate the relevant provisions of Article 21 of the APC Constitution and determine whether Agada's activities amount to anti-party activities and are punishable under the relevant section of the party Constitution. The group declared that the petition is borne out of loyalty and commitment to party supremacy, discipline, unity, and the collective interest of the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group noted that its members across the country, particularly from Benue State, have complained consistently about Agada's activities, including his open endorsement of candidates of other political parties where APC has validly nominated candidates. The APC is bigger than any individual, group, or political interest, and its strength depends on discipline, loyalty, internal democracy, party supremacy, and respect for the decisions of its recognized organs.
The APC Solidarity Group respectfully requested the National Working Committee to cause the petition to be investigated and, where the allegations are proven, ensure that the appropriate disciplinary measures are applied in accordance with the Constitution. This, in their view, will reinforce the principle that no member, irrespective of their position, is above the party's rules and regulations.
