A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of the Arewa Mandate Alliance (AMA), Yakubu Sani, has called on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to mend fences with APC governors to promote party unity and political stability ahead of the 2027 general elections. Sani made the call in a statement issued in Abuja, urging Wike to adopt constructive political engagement with party leaders.
The advice comes amid reported differences between Wike and members of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF), chaired by Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma. Sani said sustained political disagreements could affect party cohesion as the APC prepares for the 2027 elections. He urged Wike to emulate Uzodimma, who is focused on governance and party organization without engaging in public exchanges with political leaders.
Sani also urged the FCT minister to use public infrastructure commissioning ceremonies to highlight development rather than political disagreements. He said every road and bridge commissioned in Abuja should be an opportunity to talk about development, not an occasion to abuse or denigrate perceived obstacles to Wike's political ambition.
Sani reminded Wike that his primary responsibility in the FCT was to implement the mandate given to him by President Bola Tinubu. He urged Wike to concentrate on that job and let the quality of his work speak for him instead of using every commissioning ceremony to attack APC governors who are committed to Tinubu's re-election.
Beyond infrastructure, Sani urged the FCT Administration to focus on institutional efficiency and the welfare of civil servants. He called for greater attention to public water supply, waste management, traffic regulation, and the working conditions of public servants in the nation's capital.
Sani emphasized that maintaining harmonious working relations with APC governors and prioritizing holistic governance in Abuja would strengthen Wike's political standing and support the ruling party's strategic goals ahead of the 2027 elections. He noted that Wike should prioritize the welfare of teachers, healthcare workers, and civil servants in the FCT.
