A prominent All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Abia State, Chief (Mrs.) Lillian Obenwa, has called on the people of Isuikwuato Local Government Area to support the re-election bids of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Orji Uzor Kalu in 2027. Obenwa, popularly known as “Igolo,” made the appeal during Kalu’s ongoing ward-to-ward tour of Isuikwuato. She emphasized that both leaders have notable records that warrant continued support.
According to Obenwa, Senator Kalu’s representation in Abia North has led to significant interventions in road construction, education, scholarships, empowerment, and legislative representation. She cited over 70 road projects facilitated by Kalu across the five local government areas of Abia North, as well as the construction and renovation of over 100 school blocks and classrooms. Additionally, Kalu has provided desks, textbooks, school uniforms, and other educational materials to constituents.
Obenwa praised Kalu for his close relationship with his constituents, noting that he regularly visits communities, listens to their concerns, and addresses them in Abuja. His tour of Isuikwuato has covered several communities and wards, including Oguduasa, Avuvu, Nunya, Isuamawu Ward 4 in Eluama, Umubiala Ward 12, and Otamkpa Ward 3. During these engagements, residents and community leaders have raised demands for additional infrastructure, such as roads and schools.
Senator Kalu has presented his stewardship to residents, listened to their concerns, and pledged to continue efforts to attract development to the area. Obenwa highlighted that Isuikwuato has benefited from Kalu’s representation through various projects, which have extended across communities in the five local government areas that make up Abia North. She also commended his legislative record, citing his sponsorship of bills and motions on national issues.
On President Tinubu, Obenwa noted that his administration has embarked on significant reforms and infrastructure projects, which require continuity to produce their full benefits. She mentioned major road projects, the student loan program, and infrastructure investments that would benefit the South-East region. Obenwa emphasized that President Tinubu inherited enormous challenges, but his efforts so far demonstrate a commitment to progress.
Obenwa urged APC members and supporters in Isuikwuato to take the message to the grassroots and engage residents on the records of the President and Senator Kalu ahead of the 2027 general election.
