The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has called on Nigerians to support the Tinubu/Shettima ticket in the 2027 general election. He made this appeal in Maiduguri, at the end of a three-day APC Strategic Retreat of the party's National Working Committee (NWC). The retreat was attended by the deputy national chairman, North, Ali Bukar Dalori, and other party stakeholders.
Yilwatda also sympathized with the government and people of Niger state over the death of miners in the state. He issued an eight-point communiqué at the end of the retreat, in which the APC chairman expressed the party's condolences to the families of the miners who lost their lives. According to reports, 37 miners died in Niger state, and Yilwatda stated that the party's prayers and hearts are with the people of Niger state over the loss.

He described the party as prepared for the 2027 general elections, having given a clean bill of health to the APC as a party. Yilwatda further stated that the NWC had passed a vote of confidence in President Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.
