In a significant development ahead of Nigeria's 2027 general elections, four major political parties have formed an alliance to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election bid. The parties involved are the All Progressives Congress (APC), the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), the People's Democratic Party (PDP), and the Accord Party (AP). This coalition was unveiled at the International Conference Center in Awka, Anambra state, where over 4,600 members of the Presidential Campaign Council were inaugurated.
Anambra state Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo, who is also the state Coordinator of the Campaign Council, emphasized the importance of strategic partnerships in achieving the region's development goals. He noted that the region's pursuit of the presidency since 1979 has been hindered by emotional rather than reasoned decision-making. Soludo stressed that supporting Tinubu's re-election bid is crucial for the region's infrastructural development, as funds for such projects are allocated from the federal government.
Soludo criticized the region's tendency to engage in "politics of protest," which he believes has yielded no positive results. He argued that the region's interests would be better served by backing the federal government and supporting Tinubu's re-election bid. The governor also highlighted Tinubu's ability to win the presidency despite receiving only 5,000 votes from the region in the previous election.
Deputy National Organizing Secretary of the APC, Bar Emeka Okafor, commended the alliance between the four political parties, describing it as instructive and highly commendable. Okafor expressed confidence that the coalition would have a positive impact on the region's infrastructural development. He urged everyone to embrace the alliance and work towards the common goal of supporting Tinubu's re-election bid.
Chairman of APC in Anambra state, Senator Emma Anosike, praised Governor Soludo's administration and emphasized the importance of Anambra state playing a significant role in Nigeria's governance. Anosike noted that the APC's alliance with other parties would ensure the region's interests are represented at the national level. He expressed confidence that Tinubu's re-election would be secured with the support of the region.
National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Bar Sylvester Ezeokenwa, described the meeting as a historic event, bringing together all political parties and blocs in the state. Ezeokenwa commended Governor Soludo for making this alliance possible and expressed optimism that the coalition would guarantee Tinubu's re-election. He noted that the task of securing Tinubu's re-election had become simpler with the united support of the four parties.
Senatorial candidate of the APC for Anambra Central Senatorial District, Sen Uche Ekwunife, commended Governor Soludo for assembling a group of politicians from the four parties. Ekwunife urged the parties to work together to ensure Tinubu's re-election, emphasizing the importance of unity in achieving their goal.
