Angola is set to participate in the 27th edition of the International Frozen Seafood Fair (CONXEMAR 2026) and the 14th CONXEMAR FAO MAPA Congress, taking place from October 5 to 8 in Vigo, Spain. The country's participation aims to attract investments and strengthen international cooperation in the fisheries sector.
The Angolan delegation will be led by Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen Ivelise do Sacramento Neto dos Santos, and will include Ambassador of Angola to Spain, Balbina Malheiros Dias da Silva. The delegation will comprise government officials, scientists, technicians, and representatives of the national business community.
The presence of Angola at CONXEMAR 2026 seeks to promote the country's marine resources, establish commercial partnerships, attract foreign investment, and encourage technology transfer to develop the fisheries value chain. This aligns with the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) guidelines for responsible and sustainable fishing practices.
Angola has previously participated in the fair as an exhibitor and has engaged in discussions on public policies for responsible and sustainable fishing. This year's participation will focus on attracting investments for the Blue Economy, modernizing the fish preservation and processing industries, and developing quality control laboratories.
A key event during the economic mission is the Blue Economy Business Forum, scheduled for October 7, organized by SATEC in collaboration with the Angolan Embassy in Spain. The forum aims to bring together Angolan entrepreneurs and potential financial and technological partners to create investment opportunities and establish new partnerships in the sector.
Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources will also hold bilateral meetings with counterparts and other institutions to strengthen cooperation between Angola and its international partners. The program includes activities related to scientific research, fisheries inspection, and quality control of seafood products to promote food safety and sustainability of aquatic resources.
The CONXEMAR 2026 event brings together economic operators and professionals from the seafood industry from various countries, providing a platform for business and cooperation in the fisheries sector.
