The African Media and Malaria Research Network (AMMREN) has commended the Community Scorecard approach, describing it as a vital platform for communities and health service providers to identify challenges and work together to improve healthcare delivery. This approach enables communities to set priorities and collaborate with health service providers to address healthcare concerns. By doing so, it aims to improve the quality and responsiveness of healthcare services.

According to AMMREN's Executive Director, Dr. Charity Binka, sustained collaboration among communities, health service providers, the media, and development partners is critical to strengthening accountability in the health sector. She emphasized that support through the Expertise France 5% Initiative Grant provides an opportunity for stakeholders to deepen community participation and improve healthcare delivery. This grant enables stakeholders to work together to achieve better health outcomes.

Dr. Binka highlighted the importance of effective community participation, which requires strong systems, access to information, effective communication, and sustained public engagement. She also emphasized the crucial role of the media in ensuring the Community Scorecard process achieves its intended impact. Journalists can play a significant role in translating technical health information into accessible public knowledge and holding decision-makers accountable.

The webinar, organized by AMMREN, brought together journalists, the Ghana Health Service, and other stakeholders, including the Africa Leaders Malaria Alliance, Hope for Future Generations, and WAPCAS. The event aimed to share experiences, assess progress, and deepen journalists' understanding of the Community Scorecard approach. Dr. Binka reaffirmed AMMREN's commitment to bridging the gap between health research, policy, communities, and the media.

Comfort Asamoah-Adu, Executive Director of WAPCAS PLUS, disclosed that her organization has coordinated and facilitated Community Scorecard training for 46 out of 135 district hospitals in Ghana. WAPCAS is also coordinating data collection, mobilization, and capacity-building activities for key populations. This training aims to strengthen accountability and responsiveness in healthcare delivery.

Asamoah-Adu stated that WAPCAS will continue to expand training on the Community Scorecard to more health facilities. This expansion aims to strengthen accountability and responsiveness in healthcare delivery. By doing so, WAPCAS hopes to improve health outcomes and ensure that communities have a stronger voice in healthcare decision-making.

The collaboration between AMMREN, WAPCAS, and other stakeholders demonstrates a commitment to improving healthcare delivery in Ghana. By working together, these organizations aim to create stronger pathways towards responsive and accountable health systems. This partnership is critical to ensuring that citizens' voices are heard and that healthcare services are responsive to community needs.
