Amila "Auditor General" Gongqa, an 18-year-old boxer from Duncan Village, has made a statement in the South African boxing scene with his third consecutive stoppage victory. On September 30, Gongqa defeated experienced fighter Sithembiso Maduna in under a round at Hope Schools in Summerpride. Maduna, ranked seventh, was dropped with a stiff jab to the body and subsequently crashed to the ropes with a left hook, leading to the referee's intervention.

Njekanye expressed his desire to have Gongqa fight for the SA title in December, but Sibisi has a scheduled title defense against Sabelo Ndwandwe on December 11.
A former world champion, who wished to remain anonymous, cautioned against rushing Gongqa due to his quick victories. The champion stated that knockouts can work against a boxer's development, as it is unclear how Gongqa will cope when his opponent does not fall easily. The champion suggested that Gongqa's team should test him against an opponent who will take his punches and push him to his limits.
