The Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has assured Delta citizens and Nigerians of positive change. This assurance was given at a Town Hall meeting held in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, to mobilize support for the party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The meeting was attended by party faithful and supporters.

Addressing the gathering, Amaechi charged the people to work for the victory of the ADC Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar; the Governorship Candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru; and other candidates of the party. He emphasized that their victory would return the country to prosperity and positive shape. Amaechi also explained that the ADC’s proposed production subsidy would help grow the Nigerian economy and reduce hardship.

According to Amaechi, an Atiku Abubakar-led administration, if elected, would overturn harsh economic policies and implement people-oriented policies to reduce sufferings. He charged the people to stand their ground and resist every form of intimidation by the ruling party. The event was a significant show of strength for the ADC in Delta State, with over 486 All Progressives Congress (APC) members from the Arewa Community in Uvwie defecting to the ADC.

The Delta State Chairman of the ADC, George Timinimi, expressed optimism about the party's chances in the 2027 elections. He said the emergence of Amaechi as Vice Presidential Candidate has given fresh hope to the party, describing him as a man known for offering quality service at different levels. Timinimi's statement was echoed by other party candidates, who pledged to continue engaging stakeholders to ensure victory.

The ADC Governorship Candidate, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru, the Delta Central Senatorial District Candidate, Benjamin Eghwrudjakpor, Delta North Senatorial Candidate, Mr. Valentine Ogoliegbune, and the Warri Federal Constituency Candidate, Mrs. Ebiyemi Omatseyi, all expressed confidence in the party's grassroots support. They vowed to work tirelessly to ensure the party's success in the state.

As part of the party's efforts to seek royal blessings, Amaechi, Ogboru, and other candidates visited the Ughelli North Traditional Rulers Council at the palace of the Ovie of Ughelli Kingdom. The meeting with traditional rulers, including the Ovie of Ogor, Ovie of Evwreni, Ovie of Agbarho, Ovie of Ewu, Ovie of Ughelli, the Okpara-Uku of Orogun Kingdom, and the Ovie of Uwheru Kingdom, was seen as a strategic move to garner support from the traditional institution.

The rally and defections are significant developments in the lead-up to the 2027 general elections in Nigeria. The ADC is positioning itself as a major player in the elections, with Amaechi and other top candidates leading the charge. The party's proposed production subsidy and its plans to overturn harsh economic policies are expected to resonate with Nigerians who are seeking positive change.
