The Amaewhule family of Mbodo Aluu in Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State has cautioned members of the public against any transaction on a disputed property known as Ada-Oro Farm Land. The property, located behind Omega Power Ministries (OPM) Church, Airport Road, is a family estate belonging collectively to the Amaewhule family. According to the family's counsel, Barr. Ndubuisi Agumagu, no individual member has the authority to unilaterally dispose of any portion of the land.
The warning was given while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, over the ownership tussle involving over 900 plots. The matter is currently before the Isiokpo High Court, presided over by Justice Sobere Biambo, in suit No. IHC/246/CS/2026. The claimants in the suit are Chief Green Amaewhule and others, while Fabulous Amaewhule and Odibola Properties are respondents.
Agumagu said Fabulous Amaewhule, according to the family’s position before the court, lacks the legitimate authority to sell portions of the land. The family warned that anyone who purchases any portion of the land while the matter is pending does so at their own risk and could lose their investment should judgment go against the transaction.
The warning is necessary to prevent unsuspecting members of the public from committing resources to a property whose ownership is subject to judicial determination. The family is taking this step to protect its interests and avoid potential losses for buyers who may unknowingly purchase land that is part of the disputed property.
The Ada-Oro Farm Land has been a subject of contention, with multiple parties claiming ownership. The Amaewhule family is seeking to assert its rights to the land, which it claims has been in its possession for generations. The family is urging caution and advising potential buyers to wait for the court's decision before engaging in any transactions.
The court's decision on the matter is expected to have significant implications for the parties involved. The Amaewhule family is confident that the court will recognize its legitimate ownership of the land and rule in its favor. Meanwhile, the family is urging members of the public to be cautious and avoid getting involved in the dispute.
Key parties involved in the dispute include Chief Green Amaewhule, Fabulous Amaewhule, and Odibola Properties. The court's decision will determine the rightful owner of the disputed property and resolve the ownership tussle.
