The Algerian government has initiated a new measure to improve public services by opening the Caisse Nationale des Assurances Sociales des Travailleurs Salariés (CNAS) offices on Saturdays. The first Saturday of operation was marked by a visit from Minister of Labor, Employment, and Social Security, Mohamed Hattab. He inspected several CNAS structures in Algiers to assess the implementation of the new measure and its impact on public services.
During his surprise visit, Hattab emphasized the importance of monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of decisions made in favor of citizens. He interacted with employees and inquired about the functioning of services, their level of preparation, and the conditions for welcoming citizens and social insured individuals. The minister aimed to verify that personnel were mobilized, services were operational, and insured individuals could carry out their procedures satisfactorily.
The CNAS offices' Saturday operation is part of the ministry's efforts to improve the quality of services, simplify procedures, and enhance proximity to citizens. This initiative complements the development of digital services, which already allow for some operations to be performed remotely. According to the ministry, the new measure responds to practical concerns, such as providing workers and social insured individuals with an additional opportunity to access CNAS services, particularly those whose professional schedules complicate their movements during weekdays.
On the first Saturday, a total of 5,658 tickets were issued in various CNAS agencies across the country. Algiers recorded the highest number of requests, with 412 tickets, followed by Sétif with 295, Bordj Bou Arréridj with 270, and Tizi Ouzou with 268. Other cities, such as Boumerdès, Béjaïa, Oran, Médéa, and Jijel, also reported significant attendance.
The ministry announced that it would continue to monitor and evaluate the effects of the measure, ensuring its proper application and making adjustments as needed. The goal is to maintain the dynamic and assess its impact on access to services, agency attendance, and the quality of care provided to insured individuals.
Hattab praised the mobilization of CNAS employees and stakeholders, highlighting their commitment to the success of this initiative. He expressed gratitude to all parties involved, emphasizing that their combined efforts would contribute to a more efficient and citizen-centric public service model.
The ministry will continue to assess the situation regularly, making necessary adjustments to ensure that the new organization meets citizens' expectations. The introduction of Saturday services aims to better distribute agency attendance and improve the overall quality of services provided by CNAS.
