On September 24, 2026, Algerian Prime Minister Sifi Ghrieb inaugurated a new production unit for automotive plastic components and accessories in Tissemsilt. The unit, named General Plastic Injection, is owned by the public chemical specialties group HOLDING ACS. The inauguration ceremony was attended by a delegation of ministers, including the Minister of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport, Saïd Sayoud, Minister of Finance, Mohamed-Lamine Lebbou, and Minister of Industry, Farid Kourtel.
During the ceremony, the Prime Minister inspected the unit and received a detailed briefing on its activities, including the various stages of production and future development prospects. This project aligns with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's commitment to recovering and relaunching confiscated assets, reintegrating them into the national economy. The unit's construction in Khemisti commune is part of efforts to support productive investment and strengthen the national industry, particularly in automotive component manufacturing.
The project, launched in April 2026, aims to contribute to the development of local production chains, increase the national integration rate, and reduce reliance on imports. According to provided information, the unit will produce 251,000 pieces per year, intended for approximately 200,000 vehicles, with an estimated national integration rate of 40% in the first phase, aiming to reach 70% in the future.
The unit will offer a wide range of products catering to various industrial sectors, including household appliances, cable manufacturing, refrigeration, air conditioning, medical equipment and devices, packaging materials, household tools, cosmetics, eyewear, plastic articles, drone components, and road signage. This project is expected to have a significant socio-economic impact on the region, creating 300 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs.
The project will also stimulate commercial activity, support investment, develop transportation and logistics services, and open new opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and plastic industries. The President of the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA), Kamel Moula, was also present at the inauguration ceremony.
