On September 20, 2026, Algerian President Abdel Majid Tebboune, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, chaired a meeting of the Council of Ministers. The meeting reviewed the basic law for civil protection personnel and their compensation system, as well as the reinforcement of the sector with necessary infrastructure and human resources.

Regarding digital connection between state institutions, President Tebboune ordered the preparation of a presidential decree on a secure digital connection plan and the tasks of sectoral institutions. He also instructed that this connection should include states to facilitate local data registration and ensure maximum protection of citizen data.

The President ordered a comprehensive review of the basic law for civil protection personnel and their compensation system. He instructed for a comprehensive salary increase in the civil protection sector by revising the indicative points for salaries. He also called for a revision of the rank scale to match the sector's specialties and classifications of administrative and field personnel tasks.

President Tebboune emphasized the need for continuous training for civil protection personnel throughout their careers to maintain high efficiency in the field and readiness. He also instructed for the technical and technological renewal of field work equipment, acquiring advanced devices, and establishing a plan for their renewal.

The President also discussed the 2025-2026 harvest and crop campaign, instructing the Minister of the sector to prepare a monthly newsletter and task governors with close monitoring to determine production rates and quantities of various crops. He also emphasized the need to combat all forms of deviations in the agriculture, rural development, and fishing sectors.
