The police also made significant seizures in 2018, including 74.09kg of cannabis and 2,033 psychotropic tablets. They handled 207 cases related to narcotics, involving 288 individuals, of whom 76 were detained. Furthermore, the police arrested 38 individuals and seized various firearms and ammunition in 20 cases related to illicit trafficking of firearms.
In terms of urban crime, the police conducted 3,553 operations, targeting 4,385 locations and controlling 44,784 individuals. As a result, 474 individuals were referred to the prosecutor's office for various offenses, including carrying prohibited white arms, possession of narcotics, and being wanted. Of these, 81 were detained.
The police also reported a significant number of road accidents in 2018, with 340 accidents recorded, resulting in 10 deaths and 411 injuries. The main causes of these accidents were attributed to human error in 333 cases, vehicle condition in 5 cases, and environmental and climatic factors in 2 cases.
In addition to their efforts in combating crime and maintaining security, the police also conducted various operations to promote road safety and preserve the environment. They issued 18,077 fines, withdrew 4,060 driving licenses, and conducted 92 radar operations. They also covered 1,218 sports and cultural events and educated 109,594 road users on road safety.
