The Algerian police have successfully dismantled an organized crime network involved in illicit drug trafficking in the Chlef province. The operation, carried out by the Mobile Judicial Police Brigade (BMPJ) in Ben Souna, resulted in the arrest of six individuals aged between 39 and 50. The network was involved in the trafficking of processed cannabis.

The operation began with an investigation and extensive field searches, which led to the foiling of an attempt to pass 1.5 kg of processed cannabis from one of the western provinces to Chlef. Three individuals were arrested during this initial phase. Further investigations identified the remaining members of the network, revealing that their activities extended to one of the western border provinces.

In the second phase of the operation, three more individuals were arrested, and approximately 11 kg of processed cannabis, originating from Morocco, was seized. The police also confiscated a daytime telescope, a white weapon, and an electric bicycle, as well as three tourist vehicles used in the criminal activity.

The overall operation resulted in the seizure of nearly 12.5 kg of processed cannabis and the arrest of six suspects. The police also confiscated various equipment and means linked to the network's activities. The suspects were presented before the prosecutor at the Chlef court on charges of possession, transportation, and trafficking of narcotics as part of an organized criminal group.
