The Algerian National Office for Hajj and Umrah (ONPO) has announced that pilgrims can start paying for the 2027 Hajj from October 1, 2026. The payment period will last until October 29, 2026, allowing pilgrims nearly a month to settle the required amount. This step marks a significant milestone in the preparations for Hajj 2027.

The total cost for Hajj 2027 has been set at 820,000 Algerian Dinar (DA), equivalent to 82 million centimes. To facilitate payments, the ONPO will offer multiple payment methods. Pilgrims can pay online through the Algerian Hajj platform using a CIB or Edahabia bank card. They can also make electronic payments at Banque d'Algérie agencies using payment terminals with a CIB or Edahabia card.

In addition to online and electronic payments, pilgrims can also pay by certified bank or postal check. Payments can also be made in cash at Banque d'Algérie counters. The ONPO has urged pilgrims to adhere to the specified deadlines and complete their payments within the designated period. They have also been advised to proceed with other administrative formalities related to the Hajj within the required timeframe.

This development follows several previous steps taken by the ONPO in preparation for Hajj 2027. In September, the office had called on selected pilgrims without a bank account, postal account, or electronic payment card to make necessary arrangements. Pilgrims were also encouraged to open an account on the Dzair Digital Services (DZDS) platform, a prerequisite for accessing digital services related to the Hajj.

For the 2027 Hajj, registration for the draw was open from July 8 to August 2, 2026, as announced by the Ministry of Interior, Local Authorities, and Transport. Eligibility criteria included being an Algerian citizen at least 19 years old and not having performed Hajj in the last seven years, starting from 2020. Selected pilgrims were then required to follow various preparatory steps for their journey.

The ONPO had previously announced the launch of medical examinations starting September 15, 2026, alongside administrative and digital preparations. The office has repeatedly advised pilgrims to regularly follow its official channels and dedicated Hajj platforms for updates and potential new instructions.

The ONPO's efforts aim to ensure a smooth and organized process for Algerian pilgrims heading to Hajj 2027. With the payment phase now underway, pilgrims are expected to complete their financial obligations and proceed with other necessary arrangements. The ONPO continues to provide support and guidance throughout the preparation period.
