Algerian Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructure, Abdelkader Djalaoui, conducted an on-site inspection of the Eastern Mining Line project in Souk Ahras province on September 25, 2026. Djalaoui's inspection also included the renewal of the old railway track over a distance of 34 kilometers in the Zerouria area, Souk Ahras province. He stressed the need to accelerate the pace of work while adhering to adopted technical standards and ensuring the quality of the construction. This will enable the completion of the project as soon as possible and allow the line to contribute to phosphate transportation and reinforce the railway network.
Furthermore, the minister inspected the construction of Tunnel T05, part of the Bouchqouf-Dreira railway line, spanning 121 kilometers in Souk Ahras province. Specifically, he examined the section linking Ain Snour and Dreira, covering 49 kilometers. On this occasion, Djalaoui issued instructions to increase the daily excavation rate to accelerate the pace of work, which is progressing at a good pace.
