The Algerian Agency for the Promotion of Investment (AAPI) recently participated in the 17th edition of the Investment Policy Forum (IPF) held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from September 16 to 18. The forum, organized by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD), focused on harmonizing international, regional, and national investment frameworks. AAPI was represented by Khaoula Mostefaï, head of studies at the agency.

The AAPI's participation in the forum aimed to exchange experiences and follow international developments and approaches in investment governance. The agency stated that the forum's discussions centered on strengthening the coherence of investment frameworks and policies to support sustainable development. The event brought together experts and stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices in investment governance.

The forum's theme, "Harmonizing International, Regional, and National Investment Frameworks for a Sustainable Future," highlighted the need for consistency in investment policies. Discussions focused on the evolution of international investment rules and their implications for regional and national investment frameworks. The forum also examined ongoing reform processes in investment governance.

One of the key topics discussed was the concept of "vertical coherence" in investment governance, which aims to ensure that investment policies and instruments are consistent across international, regional, and national levels. This approach seeks to prevent contradictions between commitments made at different levels and promote mutually reinforcing policies for effective and sustainable development outcomes.

The forum also addressed the risks and opportunities associated with fragmented or inconsistent investment frameworks. Participants shared practical tools and approaches to address incoherence and strengthen investment governance systems. The goal was to promote more coherent, resilient, and sustainable investment governance.

The AAPI's participation in the forum demonstrates Algeria's commitment to engaging with international best practices in investment governance. By exchanging experiences and knowledge with other countries and experts, Algeria can improve its investment climate and promote sustainable development. The forum provided a platform for AAPI to learn from others and share its own experiences.

The 17th IPF edition concluded with a renewed emphasis on the importance of coherent investment frameworks for sustainable development. The AAPI's involvement in the forum reflects Algeria's efforts to enhance its investment governance and promote a more favorable business environment. The agency's participation will contribute to the development of more effective investment policies in Algeria.
