A team of specialists from the CHU Nedir Mohamed hospital in Tizi Ouzou recently completed a mission in Tamanrasset, providing medical services to patients in the region. The mission, which took place from October 12 to 21, was part of a program aimed at promoting cooperation between hospitals in the north and south of Algeria. The team consisted of four professors, including three department heads, led by Professor Habarek, coordinator of the mission.
During their stay, the specialists provided 1,549 specialized consultations and performed 46 surgical operations at the EPH de Tamanrasset hospital. The team included specialists in general surgery, urology, traumatology, and pediatric surgery. They also provided consultations for patients with cardiology, internal medicine, and dermatology needs in the In Guezem and In Salah regions.
The surgical operations performed during the mission included 19 general surgery interventions, 10 pediatric surgery interventions, 9 traumatology interventions, and 2 urology interventions. A total of 180 consultations were also provided by the surgical team, with 50 consultations provided by specialists in visceral surgery, 40 in pediatric surgery, 50 in traumatology, and 40 in urology.
In addition to the surgical operations and consultations, the team also provided medical services in other areas. Specialists in pediatrics provided 344 consultations in In Salah, including 28 consultations at the EPH d'In Salah hospital and 38 assessments of hospitalized patients. They also provided consultations at several polyclinics in the region.
The team also provided specialized consultations in ophthalmology, with 417 consultations provided and 5 surgical operations performed at the EPH d'In Salah hospital. In In Guezzam, specialists in cardiology, internal medicine, and dermatology provided consultations to 357 patients, including electrocardiogram and echocardiogram tests.
The mission also included consultations in medicine interne, with 216 patients benefiting from specialized consultations at several hospitals and clinics in the region. The dermatology team provided 75 consultations and performed a skin biopsy at the EPSP d'Adrien and Hassi Lalla.
This mission is the third of its kind conducted by the CHU de Tizi Ouzou in Tamanrasset this year. The hospital's efforts aim to improve healthcare services in the region and provide specialized medical care to patients who may not have access to it otherwise.
