Algerian Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ahmed Attaf, held a series of meetings with his counterparts from Pakistan, Slovenia, and Kyrgyzstan in New York. According to a statement from the Algerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Attaf met with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar.
During his meeting with Muhammad Ishaq Dar, Attaf discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries. The talks focused on investment, economic cooperation, trade exchange, higher education, and cultural exchanges. Both parties also exchanged views on regional and international issues, particularly those related to the Middle East. Attaf also met with Slovenian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ton Kajzer. The meeting provided an opportunity to review the state of bilateral relations between Algeria and Slovenia. They confirmed their shared will to continue strengthening and expanding their cooperation.
Attaf and Kajzer discussed matters related to the Algeria-European Union partnership agreement. They stressed the need to ensure its implementation balances the interests of both parties. The ministers also exchanged views on several international and regional issues of common interest. These included various matters on the UN agenda.
Ahmed Attaf then met with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister, Jeenbek Kolubaev. On this occasion, Attaf offered his congratulations on Kyrgyzstan's election as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the period 2027-2028. Attaf expressed Algeria's readiness to share its experience with Kyrgyzstan. This aims to support Kyrgyzstan's efforts and enhance coordination and consultation on various issues on the Security Council's agenda.
Kolubaev expressed his country's interest in Algeria's experience within the Security Council. This is particularly relevant to coordination within the A3 mechanism. The meeting allowed for a review of the trajectory of bilateral relations between Algeria and Kyrgyzstan. The parties discussed ways to strengthen and expand these relations to serve their common interests.
