The Algerian Employment Agency (AWEM) in Béjaïa has successfully placed 8,152 job seekers in various positions, with 7,743 placements made through the classical system and 409 through assisted contracts. This achievement marks a significant milestone for the agency, which operates in the Béjaïa province. The placements were made over a six-month period, from January to June 2019. AWEM's efforts aim to address the growing demand for employment opportunities in the region.

During the first half of 2019, a total of 27,540 young job seekers submitted employment applications to AWEM's seven local agencies in Béjaïa. This represents a 1.21% increase compared to the same period in 2018. The agency received a substantial number of applications, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by young people in finding employment. AWEM's Béjaïa office is one of the key agencies responsible for addressing this issue.

Despite the high demand for employment, the number of job offers received by AWEM during the same period was significantly lower. A total of 10,164 job offers were registered, representing a 16.7% decline compared to the first half of 2018. This shortage of job openings poses a considerable challenge for job seekers and the agency's efforts to place them in employment.

AWEM's Béjaïa office has made significant progress in achieving its annual targets. According to the agency's responsible officer, 64.52% of the annual targets for classical placements were realized during the first six months of 2019. The agency successfully placed 2,179 job seekers out of a target of 2,400, achieving a rate of 90.79%. This performance highlights the agency's effectiveness in matching job seekers with employment opportunities.

The AWEM agencies in Béjaïa and Akbou, which are the largest communes in the province, received the highest number of job offers. Béjaïa recorded 3,646 job offers, while Akbou received 3,247 offers. These two communes are home to industrial zones with numerous production units, contributing to the higher demand for labor. The agency's efforts in these areas are crucial in addressing the employment needs of the local population.

In addition to making placements, AWEM provides support to job seekers through various training programs. The agency organized training sessions on job search techniques, CV writing, and interview preparation. These initiatives aim to equip job seekers with the necessary skills to increase their chances of securing employment. By providing these services, AWEM seeks to enhance the employability of job seekers in the region.

The demand for employment was highest in the Béjaïa, El Kseur, Akbou, and Souk El-Tenine agencies. These areas recorded 9,455, 4,015, 3,894, and 3,489 job applications, respectively. AWEM's efforts in these regions are critical in addressing the employment challenges faced by local communities. The agency's achievements demonstrate its commitment to supporting job seekers and promoting employment opportunities in the Béjaïa province.
