Algeria's Independent National Election Authority issued a statement on Monday reminding candidates from political parties and independent lists, as well as other stakeholders, of the regulations and rules governing the electoral campaign. The campaign is set to begin on November 5 and end on November 24, ahead of the November 28 local elections. The authority emphasized the importance of adhering to the legal framework governing the campaign.

The election authority highlighted that the campaign period is strictly defined, and any campaign activities outside of this period are prohibited, regardless of the means used. Candidates are also required to refrain from hate speech, discrimination, and the use of foreign languages during the campaign. Furthermore, they are prohibited from using public or private property, institutions, or public establishments for campaign purposes, unless explicitly permitted by law.

The authority also emphasized the need for candidates to respect the rules governing public gatherings and meetings. They must also refrain from using commercial advertising methods for campaign purposes during the campaign period. Additionally, candidates are required to adhere to the legal deadlines for publishing and broadcasting opinion polls and voter surveys, which is 72 hours before the voting date.

The election authority also reminded candidates of the rules governing media coverage of the campaign. Licensed audiovisual media outlets are required to ensure a fair distribution of airtime to candidates, while the authority, in coordination with the audiovisual regulatory body, will monitor compliance with these regulations.

Candidates are also prohibited from using places of worship, public institutions, and educational establishments for campaign purposes. They must also refrain from misusing state symbols and engaging in violent, degrading, or unethical behavior. The authority emphasized the importance of respecting the law and adhering to the rules governing the campaign.

The election authority also highlighted the need for candidates to respect the designated public spaces for posting campaign materials. These spaces are allocated equally among candidates within each electoral district, and using any other form of advertising outside of these designated spaces is prohibited.

The Independent National Election Authority's reminder of campaign rules aims to ensure a fair and transparent electoral process. The authority's efforts will help to promote a smooth and orderly campaign period, and ultimately, a successful and credible local election on November 28.
