Algerian Education Minister Mohamed Séghir Saadawi officially launched the 2026-2027 school year on September 20, 2026, from Jijel. He gave the signal at the Moudjahid Belhoreb School in the municipality of El Ancer, Jijel. Saadawi expressed his hope that the new school year will be healthy and stable, marked by hard work and dedication. He also noted that Jijel has achieved advanced rankings in national exams. The minister stressed that the education sector aims to ensure continuity of education and provide suitable pedagogical conditions. He emphasized the importance of protecting the educational institution from external interference that could distract students.
The minister chose the topic of the role of trees in individual and public health as the focus of the opening lesson. For secondary education, the topic "How does preserving forest wealth contribute to protecting public health?" was selected. This aims to instill environmental awareness and a culture of forest conservation among students, linking it to human health and environmental quality.
Saadawi announced the organization of the National School Health Week, with doctors providing explanations to students on healthy nutrition and various aspects of public health. He emphasized the importance of this initiative in making the school year a healthy one and promoting a health culture among students. The minister also highlighted the importance of instilling a culture of healthy eating and its role in maintaining individual and community health.
On the same occasion, the minister supervised the planting of a tree within the educational institution, symbolizing the launch of the new school year and embodying the human and environmental values that the sector seeks to instill in young people. He also announced the launch of four important projects, including improving the quality of supervision in educational institutions and reinforcing them with new teaching staff.
Saadawi concluded by affirming that the sector is working to gather efforts and direct them towards students' success in their specialties. He emphasized the continuation of strengthening the teaching of foreign and living languages, allowing learners to acquire diverse linguistic competencies.
