Algerian Minister of National Education, Mohamed Séghir Saadawi, visited Jijel province on September 21, 2026, to mark the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year. During his visit, he inaugurated and inspected several educational institutions that had been damaged in recent fires. The minister emphasized the importance of supporting students during this period, both pedagogically and psychologically. He assured that all damaged educational institutions had been renovated and were now ready to welcome students with new facilities.
In the municipality of El Ançar, Saadawi inaugurated the "Chahid Ayache Belkacem Ben Lakhdar" primary school in the El Arraba area, which accommodates 335 students. He also inspected the "Chahid Douliba Ahcen" primary school in the El Maharka area of the same municipality, which has 225 students. This school is one of the educational institutions that were renovated after being damaged in the fires.
In the municipality of Ouled Yahia Khodrouch, the minister inspected the "El Moujahid Moutoua Boubaa Hussein Ben Belkacem" primary school in the Talfet area. There, he examined the conditions for receiving students and the facilities and equipment available to the institution. These visits aimed to ensure that students return to their studies in the best possible conditions.
At the level of Jijel municipality, Saadawi observed the progress of work on the "El Moujahid Raben Ben Mohamed" middle school project in the Harathn area. The renovation of damaged educational institutions is part of efforts to guarantee students' return to their studies and the resumption of educational activities in these institutions.
The visit was carried out in the presence of Jijel Province Governor, Ahmed Meghlati, and representatives of the parliamentary chambers. A total of 365 new students have joined the paramedical training institute in the El Salam neighborhood, which offers quality training, university support, and digital monitoring.
Minister Saadawi's visit to Jijel province also included meeting with local officials to discuss the educational situation and the measures taken to support students and teachers. The minister emphasized the importance of education in Algeria and the government's commitment to providing quality educational institutions for all students.
