Algeria's participation in the Fruit Attraction 2026, an international fruit and vegetable exhibition held in Madrid, Spain, from October 6-8, has yielded significant results. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion, ten Algerian economic operators specializing in agricultural and agri-food products attended the event. The participation was marked by the signing of eight memorandums of understanding and a contract worth nearly $3 million.

The eight memorandums of understanding were signed between Algerian companies and their foreign partners, focusing on exporting agricultural products to European markets. These agreements open up new commercial prospects for national operators and contribute to expanding the outlets for Algerian products internationally, according to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion. This development is expected to boost Algeria's export capabilities.

One of the notable outcomes of Algeria's participation was the signing of a contract for exporting plastic products for packaging to the German market, valued at approximately $3 million. This operation highlights the potential for growth in Algerian industrial exports, particularly for products integrated into agricultural and agri-food value chains. The contract demonstrates the competitiveness of Algerian industries in the international market.

The Fruit Attraction 2026 provided a platform for promoting Algerian products and showcasing the production and export capabilities of national companies. It enabled them to establish direct contacts with foreign markets and international distribution networks, particularly in Europe. Several business meetings and initial commercial exchanges were organized between Algerian operators and their foreign counterparts.

The discussions initiated during the exhibition are expected to continue in the coming weeks, with the aim of materializing them into new agreements and commercial contracts. The event also offered Algerian companies the opportunity to learn about the latest innovations and trends related to agricultural value chains, including logistics, storage, refrigeration, packaging, digital transformation, and smart agriculture.

Algeria's participation in the Fruit Attraction 2026 aligns with the Ministry's strategy to strengthen the presence of Algerian companies in specialized international economic exhibitions. The goal is to convert these events into concrete commercial opportunities, export contracts, and sustainable partnerships, in line with the orientations of the country's high authorities.

The 2026 edition of the Fruit Attraction international fruit and vegetable exhibition brought together over 2,400 participating companies and was expected to attract more than 121,000 professionals across an exhibition area of 162,000 m². The event covered various sectors, including fresh fruits and vegetables, auxiliary industries, packaging, conditioning, seeds, new agricultural technologies, biotechnology, and smart agriculture.
