The Algerian People's National Army (APNA) has continued its efforts to combat terrorism and organized crime, achieving significant results in various operations conducted across the country from September 23 to 29. According to an operational report released by the APNA, several operations were carried out, leading to the detention of individuals supporting terrorist groups and the seizure of large quantities of illicit goods. In the context of combating terrorism, APNA units detained four elements supporting terrorist groups during separate operations across the national territory. Additionally, as part of the fight against organized crime, joint APNA and security forces units intercepted 42 drug traffickers and foiled attempts to smuggle four quintals and 91 kilograms of processed cannabis into the country through the border with Morocco. The authorities also confiscated 609,661 psychotropic tablets during operations conducted across various military zones.
The APNA's efforts to combat smuggling and organized crime also led to significant seizures in other areas. In Tamenrasset, In Salah, and other regions, APNA units detained 113 individuals and confiscated 31 vehicles, 123 electrical generators, and 86 pneumatic hammers, as well as quantities of raw gold and stones and equipment used for unauthorized gold prospecting. These operations demonstrate the Algerian army's commitment to disrupting and dismantling networks involved in illicit activities.
Further operations conducted by the APNA resulted in the detention of nine additional individuals and the seizure of two pistols, two machine guns, six hunting rifles, 25,580 liters of fuel, and 16 quintals of tobacco. The APNA's coast guards also successfully thwarted attempts at irregular migration along the country's coastline, rescuing 138 individuals on board traditional boats. Furthermore, 622 irregular migrants of various nationalities were detained across the national territory.
