The Algerian National Agency for Support and Development of Entrepreneurship (NESDA) has played a crucial role in supporting the creation of 7,009 microenterprises since October 2025. This achievement was announced by NESDA's Director General, Bilal Achacha, who highlighted the agency's efforts to promote economic diversification, wealth creation, and employment opportunities. These microenterprises are now part of NESDA's portfolio, which aims to strengthen their contribution to the national economy.
The microenterprises created since October 2025 employ nearly 2,600 workers, demonstrating their potential for job creation. Achacha emphasized the agency's efforts to support entrepreneurial initiatives across the country. In addition to supporting project owners in creating microenterprises, NESDA also provides training and qualification programs, which are considered essential for preparing a new generation of entrepreneurs.
NESDA has provided training and support to approximately 70,000 project owners at the Entrepreneurship Development Centers (CDE), which number over 200. These centers are located in universities, institutes, and schools under the higher education sector, as well as vocational training and education establishments. This initiative aims to promote a culture of entrepreneurship among young people.
According to Achacha, at least 10% of young people who receive training and support from NESDA go on to create microenterprises and implement their projects. This highlights the importance of training and support in turning ideas into concrete economic projects. NESDA's strategy focuses on developing mechanisms to support and promote entrepreneurship among young people.
NESDA is working to improve its credit recovery mechanisms and facilitate access to financing for project owners. The agency has achieved a 50% increase in credit recovery efforts over the past two years. This is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the recovery of funds and reorient them towards financing new projects.
Currently, each microenterprise receives financing of approximately 2 million Algerian dinars. NESDA has proposed increasing the financing ceiling for microenterprises to 20 million dinars, taking into account market developments and prospects. This move aims to expand the network of microenterprises and enhance their contribution to economic development and job creation.
The proposed increase in financing ceiling is part of NESDA's efforts to combine training, support, financing, and improved credit recovery mechanisms. This comprehensive approach aims to support the growth of microenterprises and promote economic diversification in Algeria. By strengthening its support for entrepreneurs, NESDA is working to create a more dynamic and inclusive economy.
