The 4th International Date Palm Exhibition is scheduled to take place from November 11-14 at the Algiers Exhibition Centre. The event is expected to bring together nearly 170 exhibitors from Algeria and abroad, representing at least seven countries. The exhibition aims to promote Algerian dates and open up new opportunities for the sector, particularly in terms of exports.
The exhibition is an opportunity to showcase the quality and diversity of Algerian dates, with over 1,000 varieties available in the country. According to Mohamed Yazid Hambli, President of the National Chamber of Agriculture, the date palm sector is strategic for Algeria, particularly in the southern regions. The sector has the potential to become a major driver of growth, especially in terms of exports and economic development in the Sahara region.
The exhibition will also feature a scientific program, including conferences and workshops on the date palm sector, with the participation of experts, university professors, and national and international researchers. The event is organized by the National Chamber of Agriculture and is under the patronage of the Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Maritime Fisheries.
The exhibition aims to highlight the importance of the date palm sector as a major economic resource, showcase Algeria's heritage through its diverse date varieties, and present research and studies conducted by sector experts. The event also seeks to provide a platform for national and foreign operators to meet and exchange ideas, with the goal of promoting exports and strengthening the sector's position in international markets.
The international participation in the exhibition will include exhibitors and speakers from Iraq, Turkey, Oman, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, and Yemen. The event will bring together all stakeholders in the date palm sector, including agricultural chambers, producers, processors, artisans, exporters, cooperatives, and professional organizations.
The previous edition of the exhibition was successful, with a significant turnout and the signing of contracts related to equipment used in palm pollination. The current edition aims to build on this success and provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss challenges and propose solutions to strengthen the sector's contribution to the national economy.
The exhibition is expected to encourage the development of the date palm sector, particularly in terms of exports, and promote the industry's growth and diversification. The event will also provide an opportunity for start-ups, technical institutes, and research centers to showcase their projects and innovations in the sector.
