Algeria's Agency for the Promotion of Investment (AAPI) recently held a virtual meeting with Russian entrepreneurs to discuss investment opportunities in the country. AAPI Director-General Omar Rekkache highlighted the agency's willingness to support Russian investors and facilitate the implementation of their projects in Algeria. The meeting was attended by Ahmed Azimov, President of the Algerian-Russian Business Council, and Toufik Djouama, Algerian Ambassador to Russia.

During the meeting, Rekkache presented the main investment opportunities available in Algeria, focusing on sectors such as agriculture, energy, renewable energy, industry, pharmaceuticals, and medical devices. The discussions centered on strengthening economic and investment partnerships between Algeria and Russia. The two parties examined ways to establish a joint action program to promote Algeria's investment opportunities to Russian businesses.

The proposed program aims to enhance contacts between AAPI and the business sector to attract investments and implement high-value-added projects. Algeria and Russia are set to hold a Business Day event in Moscow on the sidelines of the Africa-Russia Summit and the accompanying Economic Forum, scheduled for late October. This event will provide a platform for Algerian authorities to present various sectors and projects open to investment to Russian entrepreneurs.

Ahmed Azimov expressed the interest of Russian companies in investing in Algeria, emphasizing the importance of technology transfer and expertise exchange. He also reaffirmed the Algerian-Russian Business Council's commitment to promoting investment opportunities and encouraging partnerships between businesses from both countries. The meeting aligns with the implementation of the 13th session of the Algerian-Russian Mixed Intergovernmental Commission, held in Moscow from June 24 to 26.

The Algerian-Russian Business Council plays a crucial role in fostering economic cooperation between the two nations. By promoting investment opportunities and facilitating partnerships, the council contributes to the growth of bilateral trade and economic relations. Algeria's efforts to attract foreign investment are part of its strategy to diversify its economy and reduce dependence on hydrocarbons.

The country's investment promotion agency has been working to create a favorable business environment, offering various incentives and support services to investors. Algeria's strategic location, rich natural resources, and large market make it an attractive destination for foreign investors. The country's authorities are committed to implementing reforms to improve the business climate and encourage investment.

The upcoming Business Day event in Moscow is expected to provide a valuable opportunity for Algerian and Russian businesses to network and explore potential partnerships.
