Algeria's Minister of Digital Affairs, Meryem Ben Mouloud, attended the Global Digital Forum in Moscow from October 8 to 10, as per a statement from the High Commission for Digitization. The forum brought together international experts and officials to discuss digital transformation and artificial intelligence governance. Ben Mouloud participated in a high-level session titled "AI Race: One Set of Rules or Multiple Sets," where international experiences in AI governance and challenges associated with unifying regulations were discussed.

The session featured ministers and officials from Asian, European, and African countries, as well as experts from the United Nations, academics, and specialized researchers. The participants exchanged views on the prospects of international cooperation in establishing frameworks for AI governance. Ben Mouloud also participated in another high-level session titled "Digital Sovereignty: From Resource to Export," where she highlighted Algeria's key achievements in digital transformation and the foundations of national efforts to build digital sovereignty.

The session included several international officials and experts, such as the Russian Minister of Digital Development, Communications, and Mass Media, the Nigerian Minister of Innovation, Science, and Technology, and the Cuban Deputy Minister of Communications. On the sidelines of the forum, Ben Mouloud met with Amendip Singh Gill, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations and Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Digital Technology, to discuss Algeria's experience in digital transformation and structural achievements.

The meeting reviewed Algeria's efforts to contribute to achieving sustainable development goals. According to the statement, Ben Mouloud's participation in the forum is part of Algeria's efforts to keep pace with global technological changes and enhance its presence in international discussions on AI governance and digital sovereignty. Algeria is a founding member of the International Organization for Cooperation in Artificial Intelligence (WAICO).

The High Commission for Digitization stated that Ben Mouloud's participation in the forum demonstrates Algeria's commitment to digital transformation and its desire to share its experiences with the international community. The commission highlighted the importance of international cooperation in addressing the challenges and opportunities presented by digital technologies.
