Algeria's Prime Minister, Aïmene Benabderrahmane, has announced that the government will no longer tolerate the importation of plastic car parts that can be manufactured locally. During a visit to a new industrial unit in Tissemsilt, Benabderrahmane stated that all authorized dealers in the automotive sector will be required to use locally produced plastic parts starting from January 1, 2027.
The new industrial unit, called "General Plastics Injection," is owned by the Algerian company, ACS, and is located in the Sidi Mansour industrial zone in Tissemsilt. The unit will produce plastic components and accessories for the automotive sector, as well as other industries such as household appliances, electrical cables, and medical equipment.
Benabderrahmane emphasized that the government's goal is to achieve a significant level of integration in the automotive industry, which will help to create jobs and stimulate economic growth. The Prime Minister also mentioned that the government is working to revive several industrial projects that were previously stalled due to corruption.
