The National Independent Election Authority in Algeria announced the preliminary results of the candidacy filing process for the upcoming local elections scheduled for late November. As of September 23, a total of 12,881 candidacy files have been submitted and distributed across 1,541 municipalities for the municipal popular councils. Furthermore, 25 files were submitted as independent lists across 21 provinces.
The collection of individual signatures for the provincial elections yielded 536,389 signature forms. The number of candidacy files and signature forms collected indicates a considerable level of interest and participation in the provincial elections.
The electoral process is currently in its initial stages, with the focus on completing the submission of candidacy files, followed by their verification and validation. Once the files are validated, the election campaign will commence, marking a critical phase in the electoral process.
