Tissemsilt province in Algeria recently celebrated World Tourism Day with a significant event held at the University of Ahmed Ben Yahia El Wancherssi. The event was organized under the theme "Digital Agenda and Artificial Intelligence for Tourism Redesign," and it was attended by local authorities, partners, and stakeholders. The program included scientific presentations and a documentary highlighting the province's tourism potential, natural resources, and historical landmarks.
As part of the celebrations, an exhibition was set up to display the region's tourism products and traditional industries, showcasing the area's cultural heritage and craftsmanship. Additionally, a specialized training course on first aid was launched for tourist guides, organized by the Provincial Directorate of Civil Protection. An agreement was also signed between the Provincial Directorate of Civil Protection and the Tourism and Traditional Industry Directorate.
In recent years, Tissemsilt province has been working to develop its tourism sector, leveraging its natural and environmental resources. The province has benefited from a number of projects under the complementary development program, which aims to enhance the region's infrastructure and services. Seven projects have been completed, while work continues on other initiatives, reflecting the sector's gradual transition from identifying potential to preparing sites and creating spaces for visitors.
One of the completed projects is the Kedia El Rassifa amusement park in Beni Chouieb municipality, which has become a popular destination for domestic tourism. The park features children's play areas, green spaces, and recreational facilities, and its location near a dam and surrounding vegetation gives it a natural charm. The park was built with an investment of over 12 billion centimes and has seen significant attendance.
Another project is the Sidi Souleiman traditional industry village, built with an investment of around six billion centimes. The village aims to attract artisans from 10 nearby municipalities, providing them with a platform to showcase and market their products. The village also features a large exhibition hall, shops, and recreational facilities for children.
The province is also working to revive its thermal station in Sidi Souleiman, a project worth around 52 billion centimes. The project includes the renovation of several facilities, including a hotel, commercial shops, and a municipal swimming pool. The goal is to reintegrate the region into Algeria's thermal tourism map.
Looking ahead, the province plans to allocate 13 hectares for the development of parallel tourist facilities through private investment. This is expected to expand the tourism offer and create a more integrated relationship between services. The province's largest bet on future tourism investment is the Sidi Ben Temera expansion area, which covers 46 hectares and features 11 plots for investment projects.
