The Algerian province of Tebessa is preparing to launch a new vocational training program, offering 4,898 positions for students. The program, which is set to begin in October, will be available at four national institutes, one vocational education institute, 19 vocational training centers, and several private institutions. The training will cover a range of fields, including construction, agriculture, and IT.
The new program aims to provide local businesses with skilled workers, addressing the needs of the labor market. To achieve this, new specializations have been introduced, such as prevention and security, organic waste recycling, strawberry cultivation, and cybersecurity. These specializations were chosen based on a comprehensive study of local labor market requirements.
The 4,898 training positions will be offered in various formats, including 1,800 positions for in-person training, 710 positions for apprenticeships, and 110 positions for evening classes. The apprenticeships will be conducted in collaboration with local businesses and artisans, providing students with hands-on experience. Additionally, 665 positions have been allocated for inmates at correctional facilities, aiming to facilitate their reintegration into society.
The program also includes 195 training positions for stay-at-home women and 420 positions for short-term training programs that lead to vocational certification. These programs are designed to equip students with the skills needed to enter the workforce quickly. Furthermore, 93 positions have been allocated for contract-based training, and 695 positions for training programs targeting beneficiaries of unemployment grants.
To promote the program and encourage applications, the Tebessa provincial authorities have launched an awareness campaign. The campaign includes the creation of welcome and information offices, digital advertising, and outreach programs to local businesses and communities. Registration for the program is taking place through an online platform.
In preparation for the new academic year, the authorities have also invested in upgrading the infrastructure of the training institutions. This includes maintenance work on buildings, water and electricity networks, and green spaces. A provincial committee has been established to oversee the readiness of the institutions and ensure a smooth start to the new academic year.
