The public health institution in Oum El Bouaghi, Algeria, has introduced an emergency dental shift to address the nighttime dental care needs of its citizens. This move comes as a response to the difficulties faced by patients in accessing dental care during nighttime hours and weekends. The institution's management aims to provide timely medical attention to patients in need.
The emergency shift for dentists was created to cater to patients during weekends, holidays, and nighttime hours. According to the institution's director, Qamar Selaf, 42 dentists have been allocated to provide emergency services across nine municipalities in the province. These dentists will be on duty during designated periods to ensure that patients receive prompt medical attention.
The emergency dental shift is being implemented at the Berkane Medine clinic in Oum El Bouaghi city, in addition to the regular medical services provided by eight community clinics and 12 units for medical check-ups and follow-ups. The clinic also offers general medical services, X-ray services, and laboratory tests, in line with the recommendations of the provincial health department.
The public health institution in Oum El Bouaghi has recently been equipped with a state-of-the-art laboratory for bacterial testing, which is a significant addition to the institution's medical services. The Berkane Medine clinic has also undergone a comprehensive renovation, which included the refurbishment of its interior, painting of the wards, and the installation of new offices and sanitary facilities.
The institution is also working to introduce digital services, including the digitization of medical records and the implementation of an electronic system for patient registration. This move aims to improve the efficiency of medical services and enhance patient care. Recently, the institution successfully digitized several medical services, including general medical check-ups, laboratory tests, and X-ray services.
